To:  North Carolina Chess Fans
From:  Asheboro Chess Club

The Asheboro Open XV is this Saturday, August 12th, 2006.  It was our privilege to host thirty-two of NC's most talented players last month.  This month, we are BACK in our regular playing area ...and folks,
it has been completely remodeled !  New flooring, new paint, and BETTER lighting!  You will like the
new look!  We are expecting a good turnout, including the return of a NC Champion, a "mystery" Russian,
and several scholastic players.  Don't miss this one!

Our goal is to provide you with a monthly Swiss tournament that offers many of the advantages of much
larger tournaments.  We call this the BIG TOURNAMENT experience.  Nobody wants to get paired with the same players month after month.  That is why we introduced an innovation in weekend Swiss tournaments:  Smart Sections.  This flexible approach means you won't get stuck playing the same people over and over.  The Asheboro Open is a new experience each month!

We believe that if a tournament is convenient , affordable , and exciting , players will support it.  Our track record has proven this to be true, and The Asheboro Open regularly attracts some of North Carolina’s top chess minds.  After fourteen tournaments, our average is 22.5 players per tournament and a $445.00 prize fund.  Our goal is to reach an average of 30 players per tournament.

Why this lofty goal?  We want to bring you the best tournament possible each month.  There are enough
serious players out there to make this a reality.  Thanks for helping us make The Asheboro Open a great tournament.  With your help, it will only get better!

After a few problems, our revamped website is bigger and better than ever.  We have added information about
Asheboro Chess Club, along with directions.  Of course, you can also find results and photos from last month's
tournament.  One important new feature you may appreciate:  PRINTER FRIENDLY tournament flyers!

Chess is taking off in North Carolina!  Don't be left behind!  We hope to see you this Saturday, August 12th, 2006.  Come be a part of chess history at The Asheboro Open XV.

Sincere Thanks,
