Letter of Reprimand and Notice of Action
 Re: Mr. Jeffrey Mason Jones

The North Carolina Chess Association is a volunteer
organization. Like others, we are comprised of
members who elect officers as our leaders. Each
officer has a responsibility to perform his or her
duties in a professional manner in order to benefit
all of our members. It is the President's
responsibility to make sure that happens.

For the record it must be noted that, shortly after
my administration took over, it was discovered that
the financial records and check books which you
surrendered were incomplete and out of balance. Upon
further review, it was determined by two separate
CPA's that not only did you fail to follow proper
accounting procedures but that over $1,000 in funds
are still unaccounted for. This does not help our
 organization.

Mr. Jones, though I believe your intentions were
honorable, the improprieties which have been
revealed can not be completely overlooked.
Therefore, a copy of this Letter of Reprimand shall
be included in the official record. Further, for the good
of the NCCA, in order to put this matter to rest, I have
decided NOT to take legal action.

 With regrets,

 LM Neal Harris,
 NCCA President
