Chess Club,
an Affiliate of the USCF
meets each Wednesday evening at 7:00pm (or as early as 5:30 for some!)
at Wendy's Restaurant, 715
Charlottetowne Ave, Charlotte, N.C. (Directions) The club conducts a
perpetual 5 round tournament with one round being played each Wednesday evening at 7:30pm. The time control is 30/1, G30 - Top Section G90. Entry fee is $4. ($6 for non-members) The Annual club membership fee is $25. (Current members receive $5 discount) NCCA ($5) membership is required. The venue guarantees plenty of tables, good lighting, great food, close parking, limited smoking and friendly management?! Join us to participate in casual play as well as USCF rated games. Your first visit is FREE! Non-members, who have visited more than once, and play off-hand games are required to pay $2. The CCC sponsors a bi-monthly 3 rd. Swiss at Quaker Steak & Lube and other occasional tournaments. NEWS & VIEWS 11-15-07Fuerstman, McCartney Lead Top; Hand "B"; Obey "C"; Blackwell Lower Section of Wendy's 92 - Round @ 7:30pm! Charlotte, NC 11-14-07: A season low turnout of only 15 of the most loyal members of the CCC Royal Guard reported to this armory where weapons of mass distraction are employed more commonly known as Wendy's in order to participate in Rd:2 of Wendy's 92.  In the Top Section, the CCC's #9 player, the
pride of Mint Hill, NC, 2006 CCC Director
of the Year, NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2000) was pretty much
getting clobbered by Michael "Bolton" Kliber (1982) until the latter
overlooked a trick shot (See Game 0711) while Expert Patrick "Fabio" McCartney (2006) squeeked by 13 year
old phenom Samuel "Xman"
Xin (1925) (See
Game 0712) to each lead with 2-0. In
addition, 15 year old phenom Dominique
"the Dominator" Myers (1839)
welcomed Slobodan "the Mad Serb" Sinanovic (1795) back to CCC
competition. In the "B"  Section, Marnzell
"Pat" Hand
(1600) beat down "Smokin" Corey Frazier (920) to lead with 2-0.
Meanwhile, using just enough kryptonite, Dr. Gil "Sherlock" Holmes performed a successful
lobotomy upon mild mannered reporter Clarke "Kent" Brosi (1770) while Ankit "Butch" Jivan (1600) exterminated Patrick
"Bugs" Cunningham (1602). In the Lower
Section, Copeland "Copie" Blackwell (956) bested "Mean" Joe
Benet (855) to lead with 2-0. All
results may be observed on the current "Crosstable."

Steak IVCharlotte NC 10-27-07: A record low turnout of
only 4 brave holdouts from
the boycott participated in Quaker
Steak IV. (Some played in the SC Championship;
others played last weekend) In the Top Section,
Expert Shawn "Arlo" Pealer (2084) knocked  off Viktor "the Mad Russian" Ozherelyev (1609)
in Rd:1, used kryptonite on
mild mannered Clarke "Kent" Brosi (1770) in Rd:2 and agreed to a quick GM Draw
with NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2032) in the final round
to score 2.5-.5
and share =1st-2nd Place with Fuerstman who defeated Brosi in Rd:1 (See Game 0707) and Ozherelyev in Rd:2 each winning $30. In
