Pealer Leads Top; Richards "B"; Little "C"; Pedigo Lower Section of Skyland 53
Charlotte, NC 4-9-14:  Another good turnout of 26 of the most competent calculators in the county converged upon this mental jousting arena more commonly know as the Skyland Family Restaurant in order to participate in Rd:4 of Skyland 53. (CCC members got very comfortable sitting in full size tables and chairs while being catered to by our own personal waitress, Cindy. Most enjoyed a generously portioned home style meal for a ridiculously low price ($6.95!) drank hot coffee and other beverages, analyzed on our demo board and monitored the giant flat screen TV with the sound turned off; Skyland stays open 24 hours!) In the Top Section, the CCC's #2 player, NM Shawn "P Diddy" Pealer (2176) defended aggressively against the hybrid "e" Pawn attack of the pride of Mint Hill, Ex-member of the NCCA Hall of Fame, NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2055) and patiently waited for a blunder which came on move 18 ("What was I thinking??...") (See Game 1290) to lead with 3.5-.5. Meanwhile, NM Pat "Kahn" Sciacca (2144) conducted a winning attack against Expert Patrick "Flanker" McCartney (2059) (See Game 1291) while Expert Michael "Bolton" Kliber (2054) acheived a strong middle game position and ultimately clobbered M. Dean Hart (1837). In the "B" Section, Dave "Dawuud" Richards (1634) outplayed Spencer "Jazzman" Singleton (1608) to lead with 3-1. In addition, Paul "Survivalist" Lucas (1744) hung tough against a stubborn Allen "Moon" Mullins (1701) while Ervon "Wooden" Nichols (1646) defeated Jason "1st Amendment" Mytrysak (1437). In the "C" Section, "Little" Joe Little (1538) is on a roll again this time handling Carl McKern (1580) to lead with 3.5-.5. In addition, "Smokin" Corey Frazier (1511) welcomed renewing member Dyrus Wuor (1340) back to CCC competition. In the Lower Section, FSC graduate Debs Pedigo (1179) upset CCC Player of the Year Mikey "Fox" Trott (1373) to lead with 4-0! Meanwhile, Sam Kumar (1355) handled Eric "Truth" Hartung (1362),  Francois Gros (892) upset Rich "Alert" Trela (1040) and Joe Rafferty (Unr) defeated George "Ty" Cobb (977). In order to observe all results see "Current Crosstable." McCartney assisted. The facility was great and everybody was happy! We hope more players will join us to dine, socialize and play one rated game of chess at 7:45pm sharp! Everyone is welcome. Long live the CCC!
Eubanks, Chandler =1st-2nd in Carlsen  Section; Mytrysak Clear 1st in Aronian Section of Knights Templar VIII
Charlotte, NC 3-29-14:  A predictably light turnout of 18 of the most loyal members of the CCC royal guard congregated in our private room (with a view) on the 7th floor of the Dowd YMCA in order to participate in Knights Templar VIII. In the Carlsen Section, Team Columbia's Keith "Chucky" Eubanks (1997) requested and was granted a half point bye in Rd:1, took down Julian Billings (1455) in Rd:2 and defeated Tony "Tiger" Cato (1621) who Drew NM LF in Rd:2 (See Game 1285) in the final round to share the Title with 15 year old Cameron Chandler (1899) who dispatched of Spencer "Jazzman" Singleton (1608) in Rd:1, Ishaan Maitra (1789) in Rd:2 and earned a nifty Draw (See Game 1284) in the final round against NM LF (2055) who was quickly running of time each with 2.5-.5 winning $75. In the Aronian Section, Jason "1st Amendment" Mytrysak (1427) took a half point Bye in Rd:1, outplayed Mikey "Fox" Trott (1411) in Rd:2 and defeated Sam Kumar (1350) in the final round to capture clear 1st Place and pocket $70. Equal 2nd-4th were Sam Kumar, Jens Koeplinger and Rich Trela each with 2-1 winning $12. In order to observe all results, see "Crosstable." An enjoyable time was had by all. Tony Cato assisted. Next Knights Templar May 3. See you there! LF
