The Charlotte Chess Club is the premier "adult" chess club in the southeast.  The CCC is open to players of every race, color, creed, national origin, gender, religion, political affiliation or galaxy!  As a CCC member, you are expected to treat your fellow members equally, with dignity and respect regardless of skill level or experience. In accordance with the standards of good sportsmanship, all members are asked to shake hands before and after each game! If during play, a possible rules violation occurs, you must first, stop your clock and report the situation to the Tournament Director. (A loud verbal confrontation over the rules is a distraction to everyone) The TD will make the necessary ruling.  If a noise distraction occurs, you may stop your clock, turn to the "minor noise violators" and silently place your finger over your lips! After the "talkers" acknowledge your complaint, you resume your game. All postmortem analysis must be moved to an area away from games which are still in progress. Anyone who violates these rules will receive 10 lashes with a wet noodle... Have fun!!  NMLF

Great job, guys?! It's been that way for a week and nobody cares? (actually, I prefer the blank page! LOL) Instead. Jones is promoting his important new "logo" contest? Again, his priorities are skewed. Since it is completely goofed up, why not find a qualified webmaster who can get their ridiculous website back on line? What a bunch of incompetent panjandrums...
8-31-15: According to a reliable source, a series of high level meetings took place between WW and Hyde this past weekend whereby the NCCA attorney convinced Hyde to stay on as President?!? I guess that he is proud of the job he has done so far and wants to continue to serve the chess community with his great work... (O.K. I admit I'm being a bit facetious) however, I was happy to hear that, after much protest, the Invitational may, indeed, take place this year, after all! Though, trying to adhere to strict policy in choosing the players might become a difficult task. Particularly considering that with only 40+ members from which to choose, the only potential participant who might qualify is LM Robin Cunningham, who is the only currently "paid" member among them! Apparently, the rule that they must have been an active member of the NCCA for at least 6 months must be waived. What a mess... this is the result of things which have been neglected for years... also, I have learned that Tom Kabasakalian intends to, or has resigned as Secretary/Treasurer and they have offered the job to Sara Walsh!? No offense to Sara, whom I supported in her candidacy for VP, but this might be a good time for accountant Ken Baxter to jump back onto the bandwagon! NMLF

Cremisi, Fuerstman Share Top Honors; Lucas, Cashell, Little "B"; Cropper "C"; Canning Lower Section of McAlister's XIII

Charlotte, NC 8-26-15: A grand total of 26 of the most loyal members of the CCC royal guard gathered at this grand ballroom more commonly known as McAlister's Deli in order to participate in McAlister's XIII. In the Top Section, the CCC's #1 player, 15 year old NM Daniel Cremisi (2225) requested, and was granted after his opponent agreed, a revenge game against Michael Uwakwe (1917). This time the young Master emerged victorious to finish =1st-2nd with the Pride of Mental Hill, ex-Member of the NCCA Hall of Fame, NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2026) who somehow survived a vicious assault by a feisty George "Cashman" Cashell (1640) who won a couple of Pawns and the exchange, but with 5 minutes remaining, boldly refused the Draw offer (See Game 1560) and went on to lose, each with 4-1 winning $25. In addition, Expert Michael "Bolton" Kliber (2050) dispatched of Paul "Survivalist" Lucas (1799). In the "B" Section, Lucas, Cashell and Little finished =1st-3rd with 2 points. Furthermore, "Little" Joe Little's (1588) game with Drew Canning (1331) was adjourned for emergency medical reasons (but, was submitted for rating as a Draw). In the "C" Section, the lowest rated player in the section, Danny "the Stopper" Cropper (1475) outplayed "ringer" Mikey "Trout" Trott (1484) (See Game 1563) to finish clear 1st Place with 4-1, win FREE entry into McAlister's XIV and gain 127 rating points! Meanwhile, "Lord" Byron Butler (1445) split the point with Debs Pedigo (1257). In the Lower Section, in spite of the fact that he was carted away to the hospital, Drew Canning (1331) finished clear 1st Place with 3.5-1.5 and gained 125 rating points! In addition, Addison Shonts (1287) seemed to be getting pummeled by James E. Butterworth, III until the latter player blundered a Rook (See Game 1561), FSC student Emmanuel Cooper (841) upset Charlene Howard (976) and Rich "Alert" Trela (1052) got by Michael "Tiger" Lyons (613). In order to observe all results see "Current Crosstable." The CCC will conduct Rd:1 on Wednesday, Sep 2, 2015 at McAlister's Deli, 4805 Park Rd. Round begins at 7:30 sharp! So, get there early and enjoy a wonderful meal or dine while you play! Long live the CCC!
