The Charlotte Chess Club is the premier "adult" chess club in the southeast.  The CCC is open to players of every race, color, creed, national origin, gender, religion, political affiliation or galaxy!  As a CCC member, you are expected to treat your fellow members equally, with dignity and respect regardless of skill level or experience. In accordance with the standards of good sportsmanship, all members are asked to shake hands before and after each game! If during play, a possible rules violation occurs, you must first, stop your clock and report the situation to the Tournament Director. (A loud verbal confrontation over the rules is a distraction to everyone) The TD will make the necessary ruling.  If a noise distraction occurs, you may stop your clock, turn to the "minor noise violators" and silently place your finger over your lips! After the "talkers" acknowledge your complaint, you resume your game. All postmortem analysis must be moved to an area away from games which are still in progress. Anyone who violates these rules will receive 10 lashes with a wet noodle... Have fun!!  NMLF

Pealer, Kliber Lead Top; , Richards, Cashell "B"; Trott, LaPorte "C"; Pedigo Lower Section as McAlister's XIV

Charlotte, NC 9-23-15: A stronger turnout of 20 of the most enthusiastic chess players in the Charlotte and surrounding areas converged upon this 5 star restaurant more commonly known as McAlister's Deli in order to participate in Rd:4 of McAlister's XIV. In the Top Section, recalling a quote by the great I.A. Horowitz who said "one bad move nullifies 40 good ones!," an under the weather Pride of Mental Hill, ex-Member of the NCCA Hall of Fame, NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2006) defended to the hilt before assuming the upper hand only to execute a faulty Rook sac (See Game 1577) which allowed Expert Michael "Bolton" Klibe(r) (2071) (apparently, some obscure violation has resulted in the USCF removing the last letter of his name!!?) to share the lead with NM Shawn "Tater" Pealer (2122) who was met with stiff resistance but ultimately outplayed Dr. Ron "Dutch" Breukelaar (1781) each with 2.5-.5. In the "B" Section, Dave "Dawuud" Richards (1728) welcomed Carl "Marx" McKern (1542) back to CCC competition to share the lead with Cashell, each with 1 point. In the "C" Section, Scott "Doors" LaPorte (1468) blundered a Bishop but somehow regrouped and defeated Mikey "Trout40" Trott (1500) (See Game 1573) to share the lead with 3 points. In addition, "Lord" Byron Butler (1467) split the point with a feisty Addison Shonts (1287) (See Game 1576) while Danny "the Stopper" Cropper (1448) made peace with Drew Canning (1331). In the Lower Section, Debs Pedigo (1257) snatched a Pawn in the middle game (See Game 1578) and went on to defeat new CCC member Mark Boyd (Unr) to lead with 3-1. In addition, being paired according to height, James E. Butterworth III defeated Rich "Alert" Trela (1052) while Eric "Truth" Hartung (1300) got by Charlene "Curley" Howard (1056). (As sick as I was, I actually had a great time at the CCC last night!) In order to observe all results see "Current Crosstable." The CCC will conduct Rd:4 on Wednesday, Sep 30, 2015 at McAlister's Deli, 4805 Park Rd. Round begins at 7:30 sharp! So, get there early and enjoy a wonderful meal or dine while you play! Long live the CCC!

Kliber, Eubanks =1st-2nd In Carlsen Section; Butler Perfect in Nakamura Section of Impromptu I
Charlotte, NC 9-7-15: A grand total of 16 of the most loyal members of the CCC Royal Guard
made good use of their Labor Day vacation and gathered at this grand ballroom more commonly known as McAlister's Deli in order to participate in Impromptu I. (After a few bored members requested it, this event was organized and advertised all of 2 days before it transpired!) In the Carlsen Section, Expert Michael "Bolton" Kliber (2071) dispatched of Paul "Survivalist" Lucas (1815),
the pride of Mental Hill, ex-Member of the NCCA Hall of
Fame, NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2026) and finally split the point with the CCC's #1 player, 15 year old Daniel Cremisi (2232) to finish =1st-2nd with Columbia, SC Expert Keith "Chucky" Eubanks (2023) who defeated Marnzell Hand (1600), stalemated Cremisi in Rd:2 and snagged a piece and ultimately notched the point versus Fuerstman in the final round each scoring 2.5-.5 and pocketing $75. In the Nakamura Section, "Lord" Byron Butler (1496) swished a perfect 3 pointer: Pedigo, Gros and Canning to finish clear 1st Place with 3-0, pocket $60 and gained 49 rating points! Clear 2nd Place was Drew Canning (1345) who finished with 2-1 and won $30. For complete results (See Crosstable) The facility was perfect, the cuisine was excellent and the camaraderie made for a perfect Labor Day afternoon of chess. Fuerstman directed
