032 - Ian:  I assure you the Midlands Chess Club is alive and well.  We have had many strong players show up for our weekly event, including former State Champion NM Alexander Guetchkov (2261), who came out of a 3 year hiatus to compete in our event, and the legendary SM Emory Tate (2400), who is newest member of our chess community.  Strong players such as NM Daniel Tapia (2201) and Expert Chris Mabe (2102) from Charlotte also pop in to make an appearance.  The website has not been updated in ages.  Our webmaster is actually on vacation in India, but is due to be back on the 15th.  There is much news to report and we will get the site up to date in the next few days.  I apologize for any inconvenience.
