Hi Leland, Patrick McCartney is now the reigning champion in Asheboro—negotiating a minefield which included FM Ron Simpson to emerge with a perfect 3.0.  He has earned a spot on our “Marquee of Champions.” http://www.asheborochess.com/MarqueeChamp.htm Patrick was not the only Charlotte player to do well.  Spencer Singleton tied for 2nd place in the Candidates Section. I hope to have more extensive results, photos, and games posted soon.  We appreciate the support of Charlotte players here in Asheboro.  I look forward to returning to Wendy’s soon, and hope to play in the next Quaker Steak.
