| After almost 9 years of "abuse" at
Wendy's, the Charlotte Chess
Club is relocating to Quaker Steak
& Lube Restaurant at the intersection of Park Rd. &
Woodlawn Rd. in the Park Road Shopping Center. When the club moved from
Midtown Square to Wendy's, the restaurant was almost vacant. Now, with
the newly rebuilt complex, the noise and distractions have made it
difficult for some to concentrate on their games. The friendly and
courteous Management of Quaker Steak
has provided us with weekly use of
the upstairs "private," well lighted and quiet meeting room! The food
is excellent and reasonably priced. Players are asked to dine earlier
downstairs in the normal restaurant area or upstairs if they are
running late! A special waiter will be provided for the entire evening
to address our needs and serve food and beverages! (Alcoholic beverages
available!) As usual, the round will begin at 7:30pm. I sincerely hope this
change will encourage many of the 69
current members of the CCC, whom we have not seen for some time, to return to competition with us.
The private meeting room at Quaker Steak &
Lube is a perfect venue
for chess! We look forward to a "big" turnout on January 2, 2008. Hope to see you
