Greetings!

On the very first night of the Laurin Keller Memorial Chess Club (in Greensboro located at
the Craft Recreational Center, 3911 Yanceyville St., Greensboro
Monday nights, 7-10 p.m.
) we had 11 enthusiastic players! I wanted to tell everybody thank you for coming out. I hope that everyone will be able to set aside some time in their schedule for Monday nights from 7-10 p.m for an enjoyable evening of chess!
A little extra information about the name in case some people were wondering. Laurin Keller was a good friend and a very active member of the NC chess community.  He passed away in July of 2007 at the age of 31. He was well known for his smile and sense of humor, busy life,
music, and giving people headaches over the board.  Laurin was one of  many people who had always
expressed a need for Greensboro's 'old Monday night
chess club' to come back in full force. I'm trying my best to model this one after the one Laurin, Josh, and many others used to attend. Your presence at this club means a lot to me, but it means so much to Laurin.  I know he would be proud, and I really appreciate everyone being a part of something that has a chance at greatness.
At any rate, you all can expect more emails to come.  I'm always open to suggestions for how the club can be improved (tournaments? USCF affiliated? more equipment?) and I'm always looking for help. If anyone has ideas or comments, please feel free to email/call me.
Thanks again,
-Matthew Greene

P.S.-please remember that we all need to:
-be respectful of other people and their political and religious beliefs
-watch our language
-be out at 10!
