The highest FIDE rating ever published was that of  ex-World Champion GM Gary Kasparov on the July 1999 and January 2000 list. The rating was 2851! Only 4 players in history have gone over the 2800 mark: Kasparov, Kramnik, Topalov and Anand. In the entire history of the FIDE rating system, only 48 players, sometimes called "Super-Grandmasters" have achieved a peek rating of 2700 or more! GM Judit Polgar is the only woman on that list.
