clocks and "quietly" report
it to the Director who

CCC Cell Phone
Policy
Unless approved by
the Director, after 7:45pm, the use of a cell
phone in the playing area is strictly
prohibited. First offense subtracts 10 minutes
from violators clock; second offense may result
in forfeiture of game.

Greetings from
Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, Earth to
everyone out there in cyberia, and
welcome to the Charlotte Chess Club
website. On this page, which is
continuously updated, we will report a
weekly synopsis of the previous meeting
to include current standings, annotated
games, Sinanovic's Puzzle and other
interesting anecdotes for your reading,
viewing, and listening pleasure. We
welcome your contributions and comments. This Website is

The
Charlotte Chess Club is
open to players of every race, color, creed,
national origin, age, gender, religion,
political affiliation or galaxy! Regardless of
skill level or experience, each member is
treated equally with dignity and respect.LF
The Charlotte Chess Club,
an Independent Affiliate
of the USCF
meets each Wednesday evening at 6:30pm
(or as early as 5:30 for some!) at the Skyland Family Restaurant,
4544 South Blvd. Charlotte, NC (Just
past Woodlawn Rd towards town on L) Primarily an adult club, the CCC
conducts a perpetual 5
round tournament with one round being played
each Wednesday evening at 7:45pm.
The time control is G90 - Entry fee
is $4. ($6 for non-members) In
4 Sections:
Top, "B",
"C", Lower. All
section winners get Free Entry
into next event. (Winners
must have 4 points with no byes). The
Annual club membership fee is $25. (Current members
receive $5
discount) The venue is "open 24
hours" and guarantees a private
area with plenty of tables, good lighting,
"Wi-Fi," great
food, close parking, friendly
management and our own personal waitress,
Cindy! (The
Management requests that you
purchase your meal at Skyland) Join us to participate in casual
play as well as USCF
rated games.Your
first visit is FREE! Non-members, who have
visited more than once, and play off-hand games
are required to pay $2.
The CCC occasionally sponsors a bi-monthly 3 rd.
Swiss
and other special tournaments. For schedule see"Upcoming Events"
In order to compete in "Tournament
Competition" and join the CCC or USCF simply show up
at the site. The USCF now offers a special "3
month trial membership" for new players for
only $15!!Note:
Non-members who wish to participate
will be preempted by CCC members who
arrive before 7:45pm!
Explanation
of "Weekly Tournament Competition" The
CCC conducts a perpetual 5 round
tournament with one round being played
each Wednesday evening at 7:45 pm. sharp!
The time control is G90 - All
players who compete in tournament
competition are required to be members of
the United
States Chess Federation.
Regardless of which round(s) one
chooses to enter, a player only gets credit
for the game(s) he actually plays. There is
no
penalty for not showing up; it is
simply counted as an unplayed game. -
If you're running late, call me at
704-965-8931 and I'll pair you! Skyland
stays open 24 hours!

Charlotte,
NC 2-13-13: A grand total of 31 of the
most contented chess players in the
Charlotte area converged upon this grand
ballroom more
commonly known as the Skyland Family Restaurant
in order to participate in Skyland 41. (CCC members
got very comfortable
sitting
in
the
padded
booths and full
size tables and chairswhile
being
catered to by
our own personal waitress, Cindy.
Most
enjoyed
a generously portioneddelicious
home
style mealfor
a ridiculously
low price($7.45!), drank fresh
hot
coffeeand
other
beverages, analyzed
on our demo board and monitored
the giant flat screen TV with
the sound
turned off; open 24 hours!)In

attack and grabbed a couple of Pawns before
exchanging Queens and creating a mating net
with the remaining pieces (See Game 1152)
to finish clear 1st Place with 4-1 and win FREE Entry into
Skyland 42. Close behind was Team
Asheboro Expert Wil
"Mayhem" Mahan (2075) who played the
tricky 9 0-0-0!? in a Sicilian Dragon
versus the pride of Mint HIll,
Ex-Member of the NCCA Hall
of Fame, NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman
(2000) and
ultimately forced the exchange of Queens
(See Game 1151)
and won. By the way, Wil's Rd:4
win was featured on WFM Jenny
Leveikina's club websitein Germany! In addition, Expert
Alain "Rastamon" Morais (2055)
split the point with Michael "Bolton"
Kliber (1985). In the "B" Section,
Paul "Survivalist" Lucas
(1751) outplayed Dr. Ron "Dutch" Breukelaar
(1717) to finish clear 1st Place with 3.5-1.5. In
the "C" Section, "Smokin" Corey
Frazier (1406) went the distance with
Tom Passmore (1630) but won in the end to
finish clear 1st Place with 5-0 and win FREE Entry into
Skyland 42! (According to the USCF
"rating calculator," Frazier gained a
whopping 160
points for a new rating of
1535!!)
In addition, Winfred "Guns" Gatlin
(1587) stole one from Marat Kocharyan (1417).
In the Lower Section, "Little" Joe Little
(1334) hung tough against Stanley Moore (1396)
to finish clear 1st Place with 5-0 and win an
engraved Trophy
and a new rating of 1434!
In addition, Rich "Alert" Trela
(1145) outplayed Eric "Truth" Hartung (1215),
Ray "the Comedian" Drury (719)
bested Debs Pedigo (1086) and Mike Trott
(933) split the point with Emmanuel Cooper
(772). In order to observe all

again!! If it weren't for NMLF and the CCC, I
