...what was VP Brad Dill's responsibility...
Uh, it was not the NC State Ch?? It was the NC Scholastic Championship?
And, he should respectfully be referred to as  National Master Joshua Mu.

Notes From Germany:
"Hi Leland: Jenny and I played today for her team. Unfortunately the team lost 5-3, but I thought I would send you our games. She drew a Woman International Master (See Game 1165) and I beat a player with a 2071 FIDE rating (2021 German rating) (See Game 1166). It's cold here but it's supposed to get warmer. We might play a FIDE-rated tourney before I leave. I'll see you all at the  club when I get back." Wil
"Turnabout is Fair Play!!"
Asheboro 3-16-13: A strong contingent of 7 members of Team CCC participated in Asheboro last weekend. Congratulations to Jonathon McNeill (1997) who defeated NM Pat Sciacca (2156) in the final round to take 1st Place with 2.5-.5 and pocket $160. (Asheboro pays 90%!). However, an interesting twist of fate transpired between Expert Patrick McCartney (2081) and Greensboro Expert Josh Lawson (2014). Using the 5 second delay feature, with time quickly ticking away in a Rook and Pawn ending, Lawson had 2 seconds remaining on his clock!? According, to Organizer TD Tom Hales, after a flurry of some 25 moves, approximately 10 minutes later, they agreed to the Draw!! Lawson still had 2 seconds remaining!! ...well, Patrick, there's a little taste of your own medicine! OMG, how chess has changed over the years?!  NM LF
> Note: The time control for all Sections is now G90 <
( Black pieces decide whether or not to use "Time Delay")
windyCCC NEWS & VIEWS 3-14-13windy
Sciacca, Fuerstman Lead Top; Lucas  "B"; Little "C"; Passmore, Fletcher Lower Section of Skyland 42
Charlotte, NC 3-13-13: A stronger turnout of 25 of the most contented mental jousters in the Charlotte area converged upon this papal cathedral more commonly known as the Skyland Family Restaurant in order to participate in Rd:4 of Skyland 42. (CCC members got very comfortable sitting in the padded booths and full size tables and chairs while being catered to by our own personal waitress, Cindy. Most enjoyed a generously portioned delicious home style meal for a ridiculously low price ($6.95!), drank fresh hot coffee and other beverages, analyzed on our demo board and monitored the giant flat screen TV with the sound turned off; open 24 hours!) In the Top Section, with the Black pieces, Expert Patrick "Flanker" McCartney (2088) sacked a piece for a bunch of Pawns against the CCC's #1 player, NM Pat "Kahn" Sciacca, Esq. (2199) (See Game 1163) and went ahead to win in the end. Meanwhile, the pride of Mint Hill, Ex-Member of the NCCA Hall of Fame, NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2000) played an improved variation of the Sicilian Dragon against "Wild" Bill Connell (1950) and ended up winning the 2 Bishops vs. Rook ending (See Game 1162) to share the lead with Sciacca with 3-1. In addition, superhero Daryl "Flash" Gordon (1868) outlasted the "Judge" Slobodan Sinanovic (1822) who lost on time with a winning position. In the "B" Section, Paul "Survivalist" Lucas (1770) welcomed renewing member Mark Sturman (1825) back to CCC competition to lead with 2-2. In the "C" Section, "Little" Joe Little (1434) upset the good Dr. Ron "Dutch" Breukelaar (1717) to lead with 3-1. In addition, "Smokin" Corey Frazier (1545) K.O.ed Stanley Moore (1356) while Jesse "James" Linker (1580) dispatched of Tom Passmore (1344) who shares the lead in the Lower Section with Troy Fletcher (1025) who defeated Eric "Truth" Hartung (1230) each with 3-1. In addition, Jason Mytrysak (Unr) got by Rajesh Ganatra (1275) while Rich "Alert" Trela (1234) welcomed new member Brian Rossmeisl (1060) to CCC competition. In order to observe all results see "Current Crosstable" The facility was great and everybody was happy! We hope that more players will join us next Wednesday to dine, socialize and play one rated game of chess! Everyone is welcome. Long live the CCC!
Mason Clear 1st Place in Top; Mayfield Lower Section of Knights Templar I
(Isn't it appropriate that a "Mason" wins the 1st "Knights Templar?!!)
Charlotte, NC 3-2-13: An elite group of 17 competitors from 3 states trekked through a "sudden blizzard" in order to congregate on the 7th floor "with a view" of the Dowd "Y" and participate in Knights Templar I. In the Top Section, while two of the top players fought it out to a Draw on Bd:1, ex-Expert and soon to be Expert again Sulia Mason (1958) sneaked into the back door by dispatching "Little" Joe Little (1434) in Rd:1, Team Greensboro Expert Josh "Lawman" Lawson (2016) in Rd:2 and Team Greensboro's Tony "Prime Time" Sanders (1560) in Rd:3 to finish clear 1st Place with 3-0 and pocket $100. NM Pat "Kahn" Sciacca (2199) and Expert Wil "Mayhem" Mahan (2080) were =2nd-3rd with 2.5-.5 each winning $25. In addition, "lower half" prize money was shared by Team Greensboro's John Retarides, Spencer "Jazzman" Singleton and Sanders each with 1.5-1.5 winning $15! In the Lower Section Quad, Team Columbia's Michael Mayfield (1434) finished clear 1st Place with 3-0 and pocketed $40. Clear 2nd Place with 2-1 was Michael Trott (751) winning $20. An exact payback of 75% was shared by almost half of the players who participated! In order to observe all results see "CrosstableOur next event is Knights Templar II, April 13. See you there!
