"NM Fuerstman, Quick Question: Last year, it was reported that the NCCA had over $15,000 in the bank! I'm just wondering what the balance of that account is now?" Jason "1st Amendment" Mytrysak --- Jason: That information is provided on a "need to know" basis; and you don't "need to know!?" Last years annual report did NOT include that balance? You could try contacting the Secretary/Treasurer of the NCCA at Kabasakalian@carolina.rr.com After all, it should be public knowledge. But, good luck on getting a response. I sorta believe it's about time for an independent audit... NMLF

Skyland 54 Begins
Charlotte, NC 4-23-14:  A solid turnout of 26 of the most contented competitors in the city converged upon this think tank more commonly know as the Skyland Family Restaurant in order to participate in Rd:1 of Skyland 54. (CCC members got very comfortable sitting in full size tables and chairs while being catered to by our own personal waitress, Cindy. Most enjoyed a generously portioned home style meal for a ridiculously low price ($6.95!) drank hot coffee and other beverages, analyzed on our demo board and monitored the giant flat screen TV with the sound turned off; Skyland stays open 24 hours!) In the Top Section, the CCC's #2 player, NM Shawn "P Diddy" Pealer (2194) assumed a middle game advantage (See Game 1296) and finally defeated Expert Nikita Panasenko (2043) to share the lead with Expert Michael "Bolton" Kliber (2027) who, after a certain amount of distraction (I will be meeting with the owner tomorrow...) clobbered the pride of Mint Hill, Ex-member of the NCCA Hall of Fame, NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2061) (See Game 1295) and superhero Daryl "Flash" Gordon (1876) who vanquished Paul "Survivalist" Lucas (1725) each with 1-0. In addition, Expert Patrick "Flanker" McCartney (2050) split the point with "Wild" Bill Connell (1908). In the "B" Section, Allen "Moon" Mullins (1701) handled Spencer "Jazzman" Singleton (1608) while Ervon "Wooden" Nichols (1646) beat down "Little" Joe Little (1624) each leading with 1-0. In the "C" Section, Carl McKern (1580) outpointed "Smokin" Corey Frazier (1444) to lead with 1-0. In addition, Sam Kumar (1371) upset Debs Pedigo (1425). In the Lower Section, Mikey "Fox" Trott (1375) routed Francois Gros (1082), Joe Rafferty (1216) outplayed Eric "Truth" Hartung (1243) and Rich "Alert" Trela (950) routed Joe Shirlen (868) each leading with 1-0. In order to observe all results see "Current Crosstable." The facility was great and everybody was happy! We hope more players will join us to dine, socialize and play one rated game of chess at 7:45pm sharp! Everyone is welcome. Long live the CCC!
