Cremisi Takes Top; Lucas "B"; Frazier "C"; Hartung Lower Section of McAlister's I
Charlotte, NC 6-25-14: A grand total of 43 of the most competent mental jousters in the county converged upon this 5 star restaurant more commonly known as the McAlister's Deli in order to participate in McAlister's I. In the Top Section, 14 year old phenom Daniel Cremisi (2149) squared off against the CCC's #2 player, NM Pat "Kahn" Sciacca (2160) assumed the upper hand in the middle game and finally upset the good Master to finish clear 1st Place with 4.5-.5 gain 44 rating points and pocket $100 cash! Meanwhile, Ex-Expert and soon to be Expert again Patrick "Flanker" McCartney (2017) defeated a stubborn "Wild" Bill Connell (1942) who blundered a piece in the end to finish clear 2nd Place with 3.5-1.5 (for which he received a hardy hand shake... and, considering his bulging dossier, it's better than a hard boot in the ass...) and 38 rating points. In addition, the CCC's #1 player, NM Shawn "P Diddy" Pealer (2173) bounced back (See Game 1345) with a nice victory over the Pride of Mint Hill, ex-member of the NCCA Hall of Fame, NM Leland "Ennui" Fuerstman (2051), 14 year old newly crowned Expert Emmanuel Carter (2002) met with stiff resistance versus superhero Daryl "Flash" Gordon (1876) who overstepped the time limit in a Drawn position and Dr. Ron "Dutch" Breukelaar (1815) outplayed 17 year old powerhouse Mark "Steeler" Biernacki (1981) who, using "time delay" with only 2 seconds remaining, won the Queen and assumed the upper hand before the good Doctor pointed to his clock which read 00:00. In the "B" Section, Paul "Survivalist" Lucas (1769) survived an early onslaught by Lorenzo Carter (1698) but slowly equalized and with seconds remaining issued perpetual check to finish clear 1st Place with 4.5-.5, gain 102 rating points and take home $50 cash! Meanwhile, with seconds remaining, Kydriana Carter (1610) swindled "Little" Joe Little (1624) while Jason "1st Amendment" Mytrysak (1571) hunkered down and upset Carl McKern (1644) to gain 49 rating points (See Game 1344). In addition, Spencer "Jazzman" Singleton (1627) split the point with Troy "Mother" Fletcher (1395). In the "C" Section, Corey Frazier (1495) held on to defeat Debs Pedigo (1284) to finish clear 1st Place with 4-1, gain 120 rating points and pocket $50. In addition, Joseph Rafferty (1530) took care of Emmanuel Cooper (923) while Sam Fuerstman (1448) outplayed Mikey "Fox" Trott (1437) (See Game 1343). In the Lower Section, Eric "Truth" Hartung (1228) battled Rich "Alert" Trela (1031) to the end to finish clear 1st Place with 4-1 and win $50. In order to observe all results see "Current Crosstable." Special thanks to Ms. Cremisi, Ms. Calaway who brings her team of 6 from Monroe, Reverend Bradley and computer guru Tim Dwight who dropped by for great food and skittles! The Charlotte Chess Club has relocated to McAlister's Deli, 4805 Park Rd. Round begins at 7:30 sharp! So, get there early and enjoy a wonderful meal or dine while you play! Long live the CCC!!
