News & Views 7-3-14 McAlister's II Begins Charlotte, NC 7-2-14:A strong
turnout of 33
of the most
satiated calculators in the Charlotte
area converged upon this think
tank more commonly known as McAlister's
Deli in order to
participate in Rd:1
of McAlister's II. In
the Top Section, Expert
Michael "Bolton" Kliber
(2036) out maneuvered Mark "Steeler"
Biernacki (1967) in the middle game and
ultimately broke through (See Game 1350)
to claim the point while newly crowned Expert
14 year
old Emmanuel Carter (2002)
dispatched of new CCC member Dan Racine
(1822) each leading with 1-0. In
addition, the Pride of Mint
Hill, ex-member of the NCCAHall of Fame, NMLeland "Ennui"
Fuerstman (2042) launched
a premature ill advised attack against
"Wild" Bill Connell
(1946) who rejected the Bishop
but was forced to capture the Rook (See Game
1347) and promptly agreed
to Draw in a complicated
position. In the "B" Section,
Lorenzo Carter (1690) outplayed
Christian "Bernard" Langer (1789) to
share the lead with Carl McKern (1618)
who defeated Ervon "Wooden"
Nichols each with 1-0. Meanwhile, "C"
Players Jason "1st
Amendment" Mytrysak (1545)
upset Kydriana Carter (1610) (See
Game 1348) while Joe
Rafferty (1530) did likewise
to "Little" Joe Little (1624). In
addition, Paul
"Survivalist" Lucas (1769)
made peace with Clarence
"Travis" Walton (1710).
In the "C" Section,
"Smokin" Corey Frazier
(1495) dispatched of Claude
Rainford (1077) while Mikey "Fox"
Trott (1422) handled a
stubborn Troy "Mother" Fletcher
(1231) (See
Game 1349) to share
the lead with Mytrysak and
Rafferty each with 1-0.
In the Lower Section,
Rich "Alert" Trela (1035)
induced a blunder from Emmanuel
Cooper (934) while Francois
Gros (995) outplayed Rajesh
Ganatra (860) each leading with 1-0.
In addition, after squandering two
passed pawns on the 7th rank, new
CCC member CharleneHoward (941) overstepped
the time limit but her opponent, Zachary
Amigo (819) overlooked it
and ultimately agreed to Draw! In
order to observe all results see "Current
Crosstable." Special
thanks to Reverend Bradley, the Amigos
and Ms. Calaway who dropped by for
great food and skittles! The
Charlotte Chess Club has relocated
to McAlister's Deli,
4805 Park Rd. Round
begins at 7:30 sharp!
So, get there early and
enjoy a wonderful
meal or dine while
you play! Long
live the CCC!!
